We built inCamera Video Transcription to be data-light by design. When you walk away, you're done. No traces, no lingering data, no concerns.
The Short Version
We're a transcription service, not a data company. We collect the bare minimum needed to verify you're a real person and process your payment. Your videos and transcripts stay on your device. When you're finished, there's nothing left of you on our servers.
What We Collect
We keep things simple:
- Email address — Used solely to verify your account and send you receipts. That's it.
- Login credentials — Securely hashed and stored only for authentication purposes.
- Payment information — Processed securely through Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
What We Don't Collect
This is the important part:
- Your videos — Never uploaded to our servers. They stay on your device, always.
- Your audio — Extracted locally in your browser. Processed for transcription, then immediately deleted.
- Your transcripts — Delivered directly to your device. We don't keep copies.
How Transcription Works
When you use inCamera Video Transcription, your video file remains on your device. We extract the audio locally in your browser and send only the audio stream for transcription. The moment your transcript is generated and delivered back to you, the audio data is permanently deleted from our processing systems.
We don't store backups. We don't keep copies "just in case." We don't analyze your content. The audio comes in, the transcript goes out, and the audio is gone.
Data Retention
Account information: We retain your email and login credentials for as long as you have an active account. Delete your account, and we delete this information.
Payment records: We keep basic transaction records as required by law for accounting purposes. These contain no content data—just dates, amounts, and transaction IDs.
Video, audio, and transcripts: Zero retention. We don't store them during processing, and we certainly don't store them after.
Third Parties
We use Stripe to process payments. Stripe has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your payment information. We never see your full card number.
We use OpenAI's Whisper for audio transcription with their Zero Data Retention (ZDR) API. This means your audio is processed in real-time and is never stored, logged, or used to train OpenAI's models. The audio exists only for the duration of the API call—once your transcript is returned, OpenAI permanently deletes the audio data.
We don't sell your data. We don't share your email with marketers. We don't use tracking pixels or invasive analytics. You're a customer, not a product.
Your Rights
You can request a copy of any data we hold about you (spoiler: it's just your email and transaction history). You can delete your account at any time, and we'll remove your information from our systems.
